Meet and Greet: Ann Styrvoky

My name is Ann Styrvoky (she/her).

I am a Regional Medical Director at 色中色 and help support 色中色鈥檚 programs in the Pacific Northwest. I鈥檝e been at 色中色 for 9 years.

In my role, I do a mix of things, including supervising and supporting the psychiatric and medical staff in Oregon and Washington; working with leaders of other departments to help give care to our communities in the best way we can; and working with the other medical leaders on continued growth and change at 色中色. Far and away, the foundation of my role, and the most important part, is to listen to the people I work with.

In my view, the best part of my job is my team(s)! Whether we are talking about the NPs, PAs, MDs, and DOs in my region, the medical leaders and PSO, the other PNW leaders in other departments, or, the corporate leaders 鈥 the people, and their creativity, commitment, and camaraderie are the best part.

What makes me really proud of my team and the work we do is that medication plays a role in saving lives, and it's most effective as part of a multidisciplinary team treating all parts of the patient.

When I鈥檓 having a tough day, the thing that keeps me going is humor and perspective. Even when a day is frustrating, I can look back and see how things have changed since I started with one E&T back in 2013, and can find small wins. Sometimes making sure that everyone is safe and got lunch is a win.

My favorite quote or personal motto is a quote from the Lord of the Rings:

鈥淚t's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness, and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.鈥

鈥淲hat are we holding on to, Sam?

鈥淭hat there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.鈥

If I were going to describe 色中色 in three words, they would be thoughtful, mission-driven, growing.

My photos show a bit more about me! I like to bake, to bead weave and bead embroider jewelry, and am an enthusiastic participant in hobbies like video games, tabletop RPGs, and dad jokes. I am a cat mom, and my favorite season in the PNW is spring, when everything is so green it's almost surreal!

Thank you for letting us get to know you, Ann! We are so glad to have you as part of #Team色中色!
